The final term of the year is always busy, with the main event being the annual At Home celebration. Thereafter, it is time to start letting go of the matrics as they start writing their last ever school exams. But there's always time to fit in a few other events and celebrations before the year draws to a close.

At Home

At Home 2019 was a wonderful celebration where we were able to reflect back on a successful year, acknowledge those who have achieved, and enjoy being together as Members past, present, staff and guests! Thank you to our guest speaker, Mrs Khanya Mahlare, for sharing an inspiring message. It was also wonderful to acknowledge Mah Bongi Dlomo and Mah Flo Madlala for their 22 years of service on the Board of Governors, as well as to present the Siyavuna Award to Mathula Magubane-Nkosi and Louisa Zondo. Grade 10 Hike

The Grade 10s and their teachers, hiked from the school gates right down to Inanda Dam last Saturday. They completed a number of activities at Umzinyathi Falls, and at the dam itself. A really wonderful outing; getting to know each other, as well as the community that we live in. Extramural Awards

This year we had Lindelwa Gwala who plays for the Springbok Rugby 7s and is a student at UKZN as the guest speaker. Her determination and dedication are inspiring. Mshiyeni was announced as the 2019 House winners, and Simphiwe Mathe was announced as the Sportswoman of the year. 
It is wonderful to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that the players, coaches and staff have put in, making this year a successful one!

Cancer Awareness Drive

The Community and Care Committee held a special assembly for cancer awareness, which was very informative. And then sold cupcakes to raise funds. Everyone on campus was wearing pink ribbons; Members and all the staff.

Debating

The 4th Term saw Inanda Seminary’s inaugural participation in the Growth Development League, a preparatory step for competitive debating in the Durban Coastal Debate League (DCDL). Workshops began in earnest as teachers were trained as adjudicators and students walked and argued their way through to becoming ‘professional debaters’. Friendly competitions ensued thereafter, with students honing their newfound skills in live motions. Inanda Seminary has, through this process, formed eight teams that are desirous to make their mark competitively, for the first time, next year. Being part of the league has meant fostering relationships with member schools. The Seminary, as a special invite, hosted Clifton School for a friendly round of competitions.

Rise Up Teachers Conference

The Inanda Seminary choir, Thembi Ndlovu our Principal, and Judy Tate our Executive Director all contributed to the Rise Up Teachers Conference which aimed to give teachers a new perspective of their role as city influencers and the ways they make a difference in the lives of children. The day was filled with speakers, breakaway sessions and entertainment.

Farewell Matrics

 

There was the Matric Dedication service followed by a farewell tea hosted by the staff... then it was weeks of writing exams... and finally it was all over! Farewell Matrics of 2019!
