Comparison with the national and KZN results

In comparison to the national and KZN results, our results are impressive. Consider the following:

• Bachelor Passes - 89% vs 46% in KZN
• 57% take Maths Core vs 37% (KZN)
• 73% of those taking Maths Core pass with 50% vs 27% (KZN)
• 31% of all subject results were As vs 8% (KZN)

The pass rate is not the whole story

The pass rate is not necessarily a good indication of the academic success of a school, neither is the number of As. Failures and multiple-A-achieving students are the exceptions at the bottom and top of a school grade. It is more relevant to consider the number of Bachelor passes and the number of subjects where students achieved a C or higher mark. These are an indication of the academic development of all the students. Given that many Inanda students arrive in Grade 8, 9 or 10 lacking foundational skills in subjects such as Maths, English and isiZulu, these results have consistently been very pleasing.
