Comparison: What does it cost to have a child in a day school?

Before dismissing boarding at Inanda Seminary as too expensive, consider what the alternative costs.

  • A government ex-Model C school charges fees in the range R40 000 - R60 000.
  • Daily transport can be R20 to R50 for 200 school days.
  • Food, including breakfast, lunch at school, afternoon snack and supper could be R150 per day during the week, and there are also the weekends to consider: 280 days.
  • Then there's electricity and water.
